⛳ Uni-Island GC Day Golf Review - Worst condition ever

๐ŸŒฑ Round Conditions ★★☆☆☆

Wow… I’ve been to Uni-Island GC several times, but this round was the worst yet.
The fairways were completely burnt out, and with rain the night before, it was just muddy and soggy.
The greens were clean but frustratingly slow even at midday — around 2.4 speed!

Pros

  • Not a short course, with subtle undulation that makes for fun strategy.

  • Known among my friends as a PB-friendly course (though I’ve never gone low here myself).

  • For a kentucky bluegrass course, the price is usually great — excellent value when conditions are good.

  • Famous for its saltwater bathhouse.

Cons

  • Need to allocate more time than the distance: you have to travel island-to-island to get there, and if there’s a jam, there’s only one road in and out... so a 1 hour drive can easily turn into 1.5 hour drive, to say at the least.

  • Course condition right now is not worth the long trip.

  • Food is mediocre (Honestly, the ssambap restaurant just outside is better).

๐Ÿ’ฐ Weekday Daytime Green Fees (Tuesday, Sept 2)

  • Green fee: ₩169,000

  • Cart: ₩100,000

  • Caddie fee: ₩160,000

๐Ÿข Facilities & F&B ★★☆☆☆

  • Halfway house and main dining hall run together.

  • Food quality is nothing special → the ssambap restaurant outside the gate (with nut ssamjang) is the real hidden gem ๐Ÿด.

  • Lockers and showers are clean, but the box-style shower units are confusing — water can come from overhead, mid-level, or the handheld, but which is which...

  • It's famous for its outdoor saltwater bath.

⛳ Course Difficulty ★★☆☆☆

My friends call this a PB course, but clearly not for me.
Even with fairways that look wide, I lost three tee shots and two or three second shots.

  • Not particularly short even from the ladies’ tees.

  • Fairway's VERY poor, but greens were clean.

  • Signature hole: #14 Par 4.
→ Decent drive, but my body lifted → straight into the rough in front.
    → Two worm-burner utility shots → already 4 strokes.
    → 50m approach + two putts = triple bogey.
→ Mentally collapsed and tripled the next hole too ๐Ÿ˜….

๐ŸŒ️‍♀️ Round Review ★★☆☆☆

Honestly, hitting from bare dirt right on hole 1 was a shock.
For such a long trip and ₩169,000 price tag, it felt like a waste of money in these conditions, especially since I went to have lessons with my instructor.

Since it’s a bluegrass course, I really hope it improves quickly in autumn.

Still, there were positives:

  • I managed to stay under 100 despite the stress.

  • I’ve always feared I was terrible at aiming, but heard some encouraging feedback that I was okay — that gave me some confidence.

  • As fatigue set in on the back nine, I realized how much I need to fix my habit of lifting my body. That made the round useful in its own way.

Worst field condition ever

๐ŸŽฏ Conclusion

Course conditions? Truly awful right now.
But golf itself still made me happy — the field lesson, the caddie service, and simply being out there.

Fact check: the current state of the course is very bad.
If you’re planning to go, make sure you know what to expect!
